About Our Church
Hobbs Community Church is a new non-denominational church with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The people have a heart for worship and want to understand the Bible and grow in the Lord.
Our Sunday Worship Service is at 9 AM with Sunday School following at 10:15 AM.
We do outreach work with the community. And we are accepting of all people who desire to know Christ and learn the truth of the Bible. We would love for you to join us.
Meet Our Pastor and family
My wife and I are high school sweethearts, and after more than 20 years of marriage, I can honestly say I love her more with each passing day. She has been my constant support and truly is my rock. Together, we have been blessed with three wonderful children—Elizabeth (18), William (15), and Knox (5). Our two oldest have placed their faith in Christ, and it is a joy to watch our youngest begin to understand what that means; he often reminds me with a smile that Jesus lives in his heart.
I was first called into ministry as a teenager, but like many, I spent some years drifting—living more as a citizen of the world than as a citizen of Heaven. Through it all, I am deeply grateful for the foundation my parents gave me. They raised my brother and me in a Christian home where being in church on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday nights was simply a way of life. Looking back now, I see how much those years shaped me.
Over time, I came to realize that while attending or even watching church can be meaningful, it can never replace the fellowship and family that come from truly being part of the body of Christ. Scripture reminds us in Hebrews 10:25 not to “forsake the assembling of ourselves together,” and I have come to understand just how vital that is. I am incredibly thankful to now be serving at Hobbs Community Church and to be part of such a loving church family.
In recent years, God has faithfully walked my family through situations we once would have thought impossible. Through every season, He has proven Himself good. Each day brings a renewed passion for Him as He continues to reveal more of His character and His love for us. It is a privilege to serve Him and to walk alongside others as we grow in faith together.

Meet Our Minister of Music
Dennis (Denny) Hanabarger was born in Central Illinois, and has lived in Cape Girardeau for the past 21 years. Dennis is a family man who is married with three grown children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and 8 grandchildren. Music has always been a big part of his life, with leading worship in church considered to be his greatest calling musically. It is a joy for him to be presently serving as Worship Leader at Hobbs Community Church.
